- 1. Generally, kerosene or EDM oil is used as the EDM machining medium. The instantaneous temperature of EDM is about 10,000 degrees. During the machining process, if the workpiece is not completely immersed in the EDM oil, the vaporized oil and gas will be discharged and Mixed with surrounding air, it will burn when encountering sparks.
- 2. If there is no flow circulation during the soaking process, the temperature of the oil in the treatment tank will gradually rise, and combustion will occur when the temperature rises to the ignition point of the oil.
Fire prevention measures for EDM machine tools are as follows:
- 1. The direction of flushing and EDM should be pointed out to avoid fire.
- 2. Keep the oil flowing and circulating, reduce the oil temperature during soaking and discharge.
- 3. Use electric spark oil correctly, the ignition point of kerosene is about 70 degrees, and the ignition point of electric spark oil is generally above 120 degrees.
- 4. Install the suction device and drain the evaporated oil vapor.
- 5. Regularly check the configuration of the fire extinguisher and electric spark machine to ensure that it is working properly.
